Passed away peacefully at Tendercare on Sunday, August 29, 2004 in his 84th year. Loving husband of Jean for 49 years. Dear father of Anne Callaghan (Mike) of Sault Ste. Marie and John Close (Mary) of North Bay. Grandfather of Jim, Dan, Laura, Matthew, David, Christie, Greg and Kayla. Bob was a private in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps from 1941 to 1946. He served in Canada, United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean Area and Continental Europe. He was born and lived his life in Toronto, moving to Sault Ste. Marie in 2002. A memorial service will be held at the Arthur Funeral Home and Cremation Centre on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 12 noon. Rev. Mr. Len Monico officiating. Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family. A special thanks goes to the wonderful, caring staff at Tendercare Nursing Home. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 25 are requested to assemble at the Arthur Funeral Home and Cremation Centre on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 12 noon for a memorial service for the late John Close.
