It is with heavy hearts to announce the peaceful passing of Robert (Bob) at Hospice Quinte on Sunday, July 14, 2024 in his 86th year. Loving son of the late Thomas and Jeanette Chorney. Beloved husband of 31 years to Catherine Clark Chorney (nee Desroches). Dear stepfather to Elizabeth Clark (Rick), Jennifer Piché (William) and Andrew Clark (Betty). Beloved father to Wayne Chorney (Pam), Scott Chorney (Karen) and Craig Chorney (Wanda). Cherished grandfather to Andrew (Heather), Mikaela, Katryna, Annina, Josh, Jordan, Evan and Joel. Predeceased by twin brothers Dan (Elaine) and Don (Jean) Chorney. He will also be missed by Patricia Chorney, his many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Rushnell Funeral Homes – Brighton Chapel, 130 Main Street (613-475-2121) on Saturday, August 24th at 2 pm followed by a social gathering at 54 Bayshore Road, Brighton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated to Hospice Quinte, Belleville.

For over 25 years, Bob passionately supported farmers, farmers' markets, and their communities, bringing boundless energy and infectious enthusiasm to help over 80 groups establish markets in their communities. He played a pivotal role in significantly expanding Farmers' Markets Ontario programs including writing the book “Sharing the Harvest” during his tenure as executive director. Prior to this, he had a thriving career with the Co-operators managing Northern Ontario and Guelph Region in Sault Ste. Marie.

When not working, he cherished spending time "bobbing on the bay" at Presqu'ile on his pontoon boat, creating cherished memories with family and friends.

In 1978 Bob built a remote fly in fishing camp north of Sault Ste. Marie where he enjoyed many great trips with his sons and good friends. There was always a White Owl cigar and tasty beverages to share. His sons continue to enjoy his legacy to this very day! We will have a “Cheers” to you Dad!
