Ray passed away after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Arja. Father of Dennis (Ashley), Curt (Tara), Liisa (Mike) and Nancy. He was the proud grandfather of Samantha (Ron), Hope, Theo, Logan, Sara, Jesse and Ashley. He also was a great-grandfather to 7.
Ray was the son of Yvonne and Arthur (pre-deceased). He is survived by his mother-in-law Hellin, and pre-deceased by his father-in-law Albert. Ray is reunited with his grandson Cole, who he has missed immensely. He is survived by his brother Ronald (late Judy) and pre-deceased by Gerald (Karen) and Yvon (Joanne). Ray was the loved brother-in-law of Anni and Ahren, Raija and Ken. Ray will be remembered by his godchild Emmi and her brother Owen, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Ray was a hard-working man who along with his son Curt operated Ray’s Contracting. He was very proud of working along side his son. Ray enjoyed going to work every day and was so grateful to have such a good crew to work with. During the winters Ray and Arja loved to head to Florida where Ray enjoyed playing pétanque. Ray will be missed by his dog, Meyer, who never failed to make him smile.
Cremation and a private service has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to Tracy’s Dream or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
We would like to thank Dr. Kargbo and Dr. Ladak for their compassion and great care. Also, all the nurses, PSWs and staff at Sault Area Hospital that went above and beyond for us. We could not have asked for any better care than we received. A special thank you to Amy.
