Margaret Lauris Irene Cassidy was born on March 3, 1926, in Nestorville, Ontario, the youngest child of Ernest and Eva Shaughnessy. She passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, on July 7, 2023, at the age of 97 with her children and their spouses at her side.
Lauris was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Thomas Cassidy (Gene) in 1986. Dad left all of us far too soon… Lauris was also predeceased by her parents, Ernie and Eva Shaughnessy, her sister, Frances Buckham (late Joe), her brother, Gerald “Bud” Shaughnessy (late Helen) and her son-in-law, Stan Suley. Surviving Lauris are her son, Thomas Cassidy (Gay Malleck) of Kitchener and her daughter, Patricia Cassidy (John Elliott) of Sudbury, as well as grandchildren Ryan Cassidy (Tracy Murawsky) of Guelph, Meighann Feenan (Jason) of Toronto, Patrick Suley (Lindsey) of Barrie and four beautiful great-granddaughters, Cassandra Cassidy, Emma Cassidy, Sloane Feenan and Hunter Feenan. Lauris is also survived by her beloved sister-in-law, Catherine Ciotka McFadden (nee Cassidy) of Blind River as well as many nieces and nephews.
At Lauris’ request, cremation has already occurred, and no funeral will be held. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Blind River, Ontario, at a later date.
