Patricia Ann Carroll was born on November 18, 1934 to Michael and Lucy Krol. She was raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan with her three sisters: Johnette Kominski, Florence Lawrence and Marion Desrochers. It was in the Soo that Pat met the love of her life, Terry Carroll, during her senior year at Loretto High School.
Pat and Terry were married on May 30, 1953 and moved to Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, Michigan where they began their life together as owners of a cherry farm and became parents to five children Marc (Rhonda), Cate (Skip), the late Richard, Chris (Debra) and Micheal (Paulette).
In 1970, Terry came to Ontario on a hunting and fishing trip, returning to announce he had purchased Grand Falls Camp and that we were moving to Cummings Lake, north of Thessalon, Ontario to become Tourist Operators. For the next 18 years Pat was busy attending hockey games, managing the housekeeping of the Camp and caring for her children and all of their friends that loved coming to fish, swim and eat. Terry passed away in 1988 and Patricia’s life became focussed on helping raise her 10 grandchildren: Josh (Cari), Erica (Andrew), Clarissa (Bill), Ashley (Matt), Terry Jr. (Lexy), the late Michael Jr., Ellery (Nick), Alex, Ian and Carley (Cody) and 7 great grandchildren: Jade, Ethan, Sasha, Eleanor, Terrence Jr., Sophie, Yennifer, Bella, and Cecelia and 2 great great grandchildren: Monroe and Sy on Cummings Lake; teaching them to appreciate the beauty of nature and life. Mom loved to watch the seasons change from the dining room window that overlooked the lake and feeding the birds and animals that visited on her deck.
In the mid 1990’s Patsy met Merrill Lewis at the kindergarten graduation of her grandson, Terry Jr. For the next twenty plus years they enjoyed each other’s company whether it was on Cummings Lake, in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan, travelling to Gulf Shores, Alabama or catching a play in Toronto or Stratford.
In 2018 Patricia’s life began to change for one final time; her children became the caregivers as Alzheimer’s started her down the path of being the receiver of assistance and care, with her children giving back to her the guidance she had shared with them over the years.
Patricia Ann Carroll passed away at the age of 90, surround with love, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. Cremation has taken place. Mom will be laid to rest with Terry this spring at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Mapleton on Old Mission Peninsula. A family celebration of her life will take place at that time. In their hearts Mom and Dad will always be together “At the Lake”. We love you always and forever.
Pat also leaves behind her Carroll Family in Traverse City: Timothy Carroll, Michele and John Hicks (Jay & Janis, and Tim & Keri and their children Jade and Tera) and Colleen Savage.
