It is with great sorrow that the family wish to announce the sudden passing of Garfield Carlyle at the Health Sciences North in Sudbury on Monday January 16, 2017 at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Audrey Carlyle (nee Dempster) of Elliot Lake. Loving father of Valerie Marceau (Richard) of Elliot Lake, Linda Edge (Diane) of Hilton Beach and the late Ivan Carlyle. Loving grandfather of Kiera, Kayla, the late Carlie Lynn and great grandfather of Lilith. Garfield is survived by his brother Albert Carlyle (wife Eileen), his sister Sarah Lepage (late Claire) and is pre-deceased by brothers and sisters, Rena Lediett (late Norm), Leslie Carlyle (wife Lillian), Betty Dakers (late Dave), Bob Carlyle (late Aila), Pat Ballantyne (late George), Percy Carlyle (wife Catherine) and Josephine Sherback (late Bill). Dear brother in law of Lavern Dempster (wife Elaine) and Dorothy Dobson (husband Vince). He will be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Loyal Order of the Moose (26 Oakland Blvd) on Friday January 20, 2017 from 11 am until the time of service at 1 pm. Interment to take place at a later date in the Carlyle Cemetery, Iron Bridge. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Elliot Lake Funeral Chapel & Cremation Centre (36 Ontario Ave). Memorial contributions to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Down Syndrome Society or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
