It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Aunt Elvira Caputo at the Sault Area Hospital on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the age of 81.

She was born in Cleto, Cosenza, Italy (in 1939). She immigrated to Sault Ste. Marie with her mother and her grandmother in 1948 to be with her father and brother before her other siblings would join them a few years later. She worked at Algoma Central Corporation for 37 years.

She is the daughter of the late Salvatore (Sam) Caputo and late Carmela (Pagliaro) Caputo. Cherished sister of the late Gabriele (late Emma), late Maria Briglio (late Carmine) and late Luisa Falsetto (late Emilio). Loving and devoted aunt to Sam Caputo and Rob Caputo (friend Susan Daly), Edward Briglio (Carol), Isabella DeLuca (Aldo), Gino Briglio (Pam), Tony Briglio (Christine), Peter Briglio (Nancy), Rico Briglio (Juli), Tony Falsetto (Debra Young), Frank Falsetto, Teresa Charleau (Bob).

Aunt Elvira was a kind, spiritual, caring, selfless person, devoted to the church. She always put others ahead of herself. Even the last hours of her life, her thoughts and prayers were for others.

She also had a profound fondness and affection for all her nieces and nephews. Including her great and great great nieces and nephews. She treated them as if they were her own children.

Aunt Elvira had an amazing memory as there was not a single birthday or anniversary she missed. We all waited to hear the kind wishes from Aunt Elvira.

She was quite the intellect and would not hesitate to participate in a lively debate. There was never a lack of conversation with our Aunt Elvira. She was definitely one of a kind and will be sorely missed by everyone.

The family wishes to extend our sincerest thank you to RN Leanne from the Group Health Center, RNs Robin, Jessica, Chelsea in ICU and Dr. Jarrett and Dr. Ianni for the many years of caring for Aunt Elvira. We would also like to thank her many friends who drove her to church, helped her with groceries, brought her for blood work and provided companionship to her over the years.

As per Aunt Elvira’s wishes, please pray for peace, health and lost souls in our world today.
