February 28, 1942 - January 16, 2025
Following a short, but courageous battle with cancer, it breaks our hearts to share the passing of Jack Calam at ARCH, just shy of his 83rd birthday.
He is survived by the love of his life for over 60 years, Henrietta. Predeceased by his eldest son, Jeffrey. Best friend and amazing D.O.D to Jason. Adored father-in-law to Monique and bonus grandfather to Bethany. Constant companion to his "little guy" Seymore.
Predeceased by his parents, Percy and Dorothy Calam, and his in laws Gideon and Lucille Drouin. Jack leaves his memories to his brother Alec Calam (Lois), predeceased by his sister Beverly Calam (Ross), sister Janice Boileau (late John), Sister Dorothy Bookmiller (Jim) and his baby brother Chas (Gloria).
He will be missed by his brother-in-law Henry Drouin (Regine), Ron Drouin (Anna), the late Dan Drouin (Kim) and Larry Drouin (Susan). Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
To know Jack, was to love Jack. He became your favourite person very quickly. His smile brightened your day, and his laugh filled any room. The knowledge and wisdom he shared will be with us forever. From his love to cook and garden, his bowling skills, his love for the Blue Jays, to often quoting Seinfeld, these memories will always be with us.
Jack was very proud of his 42 years working at Algoma Steel, never missing a shift as a welder. During his retirement, he spent his time being an usher at the Memorial Gardens, while enjoying his love for Greyhounds.
What we wouldn't do to hear one more Amos and Andy Joke.
"I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to bowl".
A heartfelt thank you to all the nurses, staff and volunteers at ARCH for their amazing care, not only for Jack, but his family as well. A special thank you to Dr. Apostle, Dr. White, Dr. Taylor, Dr Laviolette and Dr J. Jonusaitis.
Please join us to celebrate Jack on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at O’Sullivan Funeral Home (215 St. James St, SSM) from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
