It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the age of 74 at May Court Hospice in Ottawa after a courageous battle with cancer.
Loving father of Elliott (Amanda) and Yvonne, husband of Marilyn and grandfather to adoring grandkids Andrew, Emma, Lilah and Lucy. Brother of Pam (Steve), Lynn (Sean) and brother-in-law to Elaine; uncle of Gregory, Carrie Anne (Jesse) and Keegan (Autumn).
After a short journalism career in Alberta, Larry graduated from Queen's Theological College with a Master of Divinity and was ordained into the United Church of Canada (1993). Larry will be fondly remembered by the members of St. Paul's United Church in Manitouwadge, Ontario and John Wesley United Church in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Larry also had an active role in the Algoma Presbytry and in London Conference during his 25 years of ministry. His final role within the United Church came as a member of First United Church in Ottawa, Ontario. Although it was a short one, Larry felt a strong connection to the church and was quite fond of the community it has created. He enjoyed participating in the drumming group and choir.
Throughout his life, Larry had a love of music, photography and astronomy. He enjoyed participating in the many music festivals in Ottawa, Ontario.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at First United Church, 347 Richmond Road, Ottawa.
