BROWN, Richard 'Dick'

Peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Saturday, June 17, 2023 in his 100th year.  

Beloved husband of the late Gladys.  Loving father of William "Bill" (Erika), James "Jim" (Catherine) and Murray.  Proud grandpa of Christopher Brown, Beverley Bosma (Corey) and Anden Brown and great grandpa of Jack, Ben and Breanna Bosma.  Predeceased by his parents Frederick and Mary and his brother Walter (late Donna).  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  

Dick was a proud veteran of WWII. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and served with 644 Squadron of the Royal Air Force. He was a rear gunner on a Halifax bomber. 644 Squadron specialized in dropping equipment to the underground forces throughout Northwest Europe as well as glider towing for airborne operations. Dick was awarded the Legion of Honour by the French government in 2019 for his services in the liberation of France during the war.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery.  Memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) to the Humane Society would be appreciated.
