Passed away peacefully at Extendicare Maple View on August 3, 2023 1 day shy of her 88th birthday. Born August 4, 1935 in Cochrane, Ontario.

Predeceased by Keith, her loving husband of 43 years. Wonderful and caring Mother to the late William Larson, Lynda Tomson, Wayne (Phyllis), Nona (Mark Allemang) and the late Eric. Step-mother to Gordon (Alexandra), Greg (Debbie Shubat), and Jennifer (Dean Daggett). Grandmother to Matthew, Kyle (Alisha), Alexandra ( A.J.), Nicholas, Sarah (Robert), Kory (Tiffany), Christopher and Toni-Marie (Erik Riauka). Great Grandmother to Malachi, Ryker, Kaiden, Kennady, Miyah-Marie, Rhyan and Kash. Survived by sisters, Mabel, Norine, Frances, brothers Dave, Jim and sister-in-law Lauretta. Predeceased by brothers Len and Tom (Anita). She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Marie was devoted to Christ Church and spent many years with the Women’s Auxiliary, and volunteering at the Davey Home. Marie loved her job with the Ministry of Community and Social Services and her stories she told of her travels north for work proved it.

Following retirement, Marie and Keith spent their winters in Florida making new friends. They also traveled frequently to Nova Scotia and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at cottages on St Joseph Island and Batchawana Bay.

Marie was an avid reader, card and cribbage player. She raced the clock to complete her daily crossword puzzle. She loved her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren doing craft projects which brought her joyful memories.

At Marie’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private service will be held at St. Luke’s Columbarium for the immediate family.

A special thank you goes to the 2nd Floor staff, Goulais Bay unit at Extendicare Maple View, CCAC and Home Care.

Donations to the Sault Ste. Marie Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated (payable online or by cheque).
