October 17, 1947 - November 6, 2023

Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 76 with the love of his life, Carol by his side.

He left us to join his son, Kurt Belair who passed just over a year ago. Husband and soul mate of Carol Belair for over 56 years. Much loved father of Kim Belair (Bobbi-Jo). The proudest Papa to Tianna Belair (Justin Hykel) and Bodie Belair. Great grandfather to Sydney Hykel, the newest light of his life. Born in Kapuskasing Ontario, Don was the son of the late Marthe and Donat Belair. He was the beloved brother of the late Ray Belair (Elspeth), Claire Baronette (Ray), Denis Belair (Kate). Son-in-law to the late Carl and Betty Harris. Brother-in-law to Mitch Harris (Marilyn), Wendy Stocco (late Danny), and Kevin Harris (Diane). Lifelong friend, cousin and fishing partner to Anita Belair (late Victor) and Andrea & George Bois. Don was uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Don will forever be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends. He had a passion for hockey and coached both his sons growing up. He loved to travel and had fond memories of times with his family and friends at Wakami Lake, Point des Chenes and Racine Lake. He often spoke of treasured memories of his mother, father and brother Ray, and we find comfort knowing he’ll be joined with them again in Heaven after so many years.

At Don’s request there will be no memorial service. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E., 705-759-2522). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations (made payable by cheque or online) to A.R.C.H. or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. If someone should ask for me,
tell ’em heaven is where I’ll be.
I’ve finished all my life’s chores,
and now I fish on heaven’s shores.

The view is grand and the fishing’s great,
but I yearn for you as I wait.
I’ll save a spot on the river’s bend,
for all those, I call family and friend.

But for now, head out to sea
and make a cast in memory,
to all the good times that you had,
with me - your friend, husband, papa, dad.

And if the fish no longer bite
or seem no longer worth the fight,
because it’s me that you are missin’,
don’t worry – be glad – I’ve only gone fishin’.
