March 10, 1938 – December 18, 2022
Allan passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, surrounded by his loving family. Husband of Marie (nee Mills) for 63 years. Father of Shirley Cooke (Bruce), Steven (Jennifer Foster) and Jennifer Beilhartz (Mike Freamon). Grandpa (Grump) of Jason Cooke (Allison), Megan Sole (Chad) and Great Grandpa of Kalie, Cassidy and Harley. Brother of the late Willys (late Lillian), Lorne (late Helen) and Gladys Dukes (late Ernie). Predeceased by his parents Russell and Catherine (nee Braniff). Son-in-law of the late Louis “Bud” and Jessie Mills (nee McPhee). Brother-in-law of Arlene Cameron (late Jarrell) and Marie’s late twin sister, Marilyn Senecal (late Wilfred). Treasured and attentive uncle and great uncle of many. Fondly remembered by many friends and neighbours.
Allan was a councillor for Plummer Additional and sat on many boards and committees, his passion being recreation. He volunteered for Bruce Mines Agricultural Society, and Bruce Mines and Plummer Additional Minor Hockey. He worked hand in hand with local individuals, many organizations and Sault College developing the Central Algoma Woodsman Competition which assisted Forestry students in their preparation for collegiate competitions.
Allan was a well known, dedicated, and highly sought out small engine mechanic who owned and operated his own business for 35 years. He spent a lifetime working in farming, automotive repair, logging, Forestry education, road construction and transport driving which created many colourful and interesting tales. He developed and acquired so many skills, he often said, “I can fix anything but a broken heart.”
Per Allan’s wishes, there will be a private family gathering with interment at Cloudslee Cemetery in the spring.
The family wishes to thank all those who supported Allan and his family throughout the difficult days especially our angels Amy and Jessica for their tireless dedication to their patients.
Donations to NSHN Thessalon Site, Janet’s Warriors or Tracey’s Dream are appreciated by the family.
