(1953 – 2024) – With broken hearts we announce the passing of Dennis on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the age of 70. Cherished life partner and husband of Sylvia (Parlowe) for 30 years. Beloved father of Erin Mackay (Jordy) and Megan Becker (Robert Prenger). Treasured bonus dad of Christopher and Megan Parlowe (Anthony Aiello). Predeceased by his parents Dirk and Nora Becker. Partner in mischief to brothers Rutger (Janet), Paul (Mem) and Dirk (Lisa). Predeceased by his brother Terry Becker. Son-in-law of Dorina and the late Silvio Nanne. Brother-in-law of Debbie Nanne (Bruce Mitchell) of Goulais Bay. Special cousin of Ken Romyn (Jackie) of Welland, ON. Special uncle to Debbie’s children Emily, Nicholas and Olivia. Dennis has many nieces and nephews in the Becker family who will remember him with tears and a smile.  He had a huge soft spot for the children of his brothers. Dennis leaves behind his beautiful fur baby Lily, a Northern Critters puppy that we rescued, only to realize that she had rescued us.

Dennis will be remembered for his huge heart, and his wonderfully eccentric, magical way.

Special thanks to Dr. Mohammed Rassouli of SAH who ensured that Dennis’s cancer journey was many years longer than we ever expected, giving us so much good time in the past seven years. Thank you to Dr. Jaqueline Lam who contributed greatly to this fight in the more recent times. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Fayez Quereshy, Dr. Alice Wei, and Dr. Jesse Pasternak of UHN Toronto for blessing us with their talented surgical skills, further ensuring Dennis would be in our lives as long as possible. A sincere thank you to Dr. Karen Booth at SAH for taking the best possible care of Dennis in his final days and to the caring and compassionate nursing and PSW staff of SAH unit 3B.  We are forever grateful.

In keeping with Dennis’s wishes, there will be no funeral. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations can be made in Dennis’ memory to An Evening at Hogwarts where all proceeds go directly to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Cancer Care Fund (https://ssmhogwarts.square.site/). Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758). www.northwoodfuneral.com
