It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Richard Charles Baic on Friday, June 28 in his 93rd year with family by his side.

Loving husband of the late Audrey Baic (nee Leroux). Father of Robin Pinder (George), Tracy Hammell, Michael Baic (Ann Mitchell) and Tim Baic (Bette Ann). Grandfather of Tyson Hammell (Stephanie), Caleb Baic (Rebecca) and Brock Pinder (Hannah). Great-Grandfather of sweet Oliver. Son of the late Michael Baic (late Viola) and late Thelma Elliott (late Red). Brother of the late Arlene Hollingshead (late Robert), Pat Falldien (Jack) and Doug (Audrey). Uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Richard was a welder at Algoma Steel for many years. He took pride in his work which reflected as so many people approached him to help on projects, since his work was flawless. He made sure that every angle and seam was the best that it could be. If there was a project that you wanted done, he could do it. He enjoyed helping others, and didn't need any gratitude from it, he just wanted to help. After he retired from Algoma Steel, he went to teach welding courses at Sault College, and again he was loved by all. He was detailed in his work and made sure that his students were as well. He taught them everything that he he knew.

While he took pride in his work he also loved the outdoors, especially fishing at his camps at Rock Lake and on the Ranger Lake road. When he wasn't at camp he would trailer to music festivals to enjoy them. Even though he worked, he always made time for family. Family was the most important thing to him, with visits to Butterfly Lake as much as possible where there were lots of laughs. Within his family he instilled his great work ethics and loyalty to friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all.

Special thank you to the F.J.Davey Home staff of Driftwood 1 for all of their care and compassion shown to Richard. Even when he wouldn't eat the meal, there was always a bowl of cornflakes and brown sugar to be found to make sure he had something to eat.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions payable by cheque or online to the F.J. Davey Home or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522).
