Eskimos' defensive back Thompson suffers season-ending Achilles injury

EDMONTON — Brandyn Thompson's season is over.

The Edmonton Eskimos announced Wednesday the veteran defensive back suffered a season-ending ruptured left Achilles during the club's 29-20 home win over the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday.

Edmonton (11-6) concludes the regular season Saturday night visiting the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Thompson had 23 tackles in 11 games this season. He joined the Eskimos in 2016, registering 22 tackles and an interception in eight games.

Thompson began his CFL career with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2014. He played in 34 games over two seasons, registering 97 tackles, seven interceptions and a forced fumble.
