TORONTO — Canadian head coach Lisa Thomaidis has picked her team for the 2017 FIBA women's AmeriCup.
Canada Basketball announced the final 12-player roster for the senior women's national team set to compete in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Friday.
"In this first year of the Tokyo quadrennial we have assessed a number of athletes and are pleased to confirm the 12 that will make up the best team for the 2017 FIBA women's AmeriCup," said Denise Dignard, director of women's high performance.
"We look forward to travelling to Argentina to compete for a spot in the 2018 FIBA World Cup."
Thomaidis is joined by assistant coaches Shawnee Harle and Steve Baur.
Canada tips-off tournament play against 14th-ranked Cuba on Aug. 6.
The top three teams from the FIBA women's AmeriCup will qualify for the 2018 FIBA women's basketball World Cup in Spain.
The Canadian women's squad is currently ranked No. 2 in the Americas and sixth in the world by FIBA.

Miranda Ayim of London, Ont.; Bridget Carleton of Chatham, Ont.; Shay Colley Guard of Brampton, Ont.; Laura Dally of Sarnia, Ont.; Nirra Fields of Montreal; Ruth Hamblin of Houston, B.C.; Sami Hill of Toronto; Miah-Marie Langlois of Windsor, Ont.; Kia Nurse of Hamilton; Katherine Plouffe of Edmonton; Michelle Plouffe of Edmonton and Jamie Scott of Clarkston, Wash.
