NEWARK, N.J. — Cory Schneider made 39 saves, Taylor Hall had a goal and an assist, and the New Jersey Devils beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 on Saturday night.
Brian Boyle, Kyle Palmieri and Pavel Zacha also scored as the Devils improved to 5-0-1 in their last six games and 21-9-5 overall after finishing last in the Eastern Conference last season.
Schneider was at his best in the second, when he stopped 21 shots.
Chicago star Patrick Kane scored his 300th goal to join Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Steve Larmer and Denis Savard as the only players to reach that milestone with the Blackhawks.
Boyle, Palmieri and Zacha got first-period goals as the Devils chased Corey Crawford for the second time this season.
SHARKS 2, KINGS 0
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Martin Jones had 28 saves, Joe Pavelski scored for the second time in three games and San Jose beat Los Angeles.
Marcus Sorensen also had a goal as the Sharks improved to 5-1-2 over their last eight games. The Kings are 2-3-1 over their last six and have lost four of their last five away from home.
Pavelski also scored in a 5-3 loss to Edmonton on Monday. His goal was his 10th in 30 games against Kings goalie Jonathan Quick.
Jones, who came up with the Kings as Quick's backup from 2013-15, recorded his 100th career victory.
MAPLE LEAFS 3, RANGERS 2
NEW YORK (AP) — Auston Matthews had a goal and an assist in his return from a concussion, leading Toronto to the road win.
Matthews sat out the previous six games. The top pick in the 2016 draft made a pretty move just outside the crease to give the Maple Leafs a 3-1 lead at 11:22 of the second period. Zach Hyman and William Nylander assisted on the play.
Nylander and Ron Hainsey also scored for Toronto, and Frederik Anderson stopped 30 shots.
Jimmy Vesey and J.T. Miller scored for the Rangers, and Henrik Lundqvist made 24 saves.
GOLDEN KNIGHTS 3, CAPITALS 0
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 26 shots for his first shutout with Vegas, William Karlsson scored during a three-goal first period and the Golden Knights beat Washington.
Fleury was perfect in his 699th career game and eighth since being selected by Vegas in the expansion draft. Alex Tuch and Oscar Lindberg also scored in the first period for Vegas, which went 4-0-1 on this homestand and has a point in nine straight games.
Washington was 4-0-1 in its past five games and 8-1-1 in its last 10, but the Capitals lost their second in two nights, including a defeat in Arizona.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Anaheim goaltender John Gibson stopped 29 shots for his first shutout of the season.
Gibson, a Pittsburgh native, kept the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions in check for the 13th shutout of his career. Rickard Rakell, Andrew Cogliano, Ondrej Kase and Cam Fowler scored for the Ducks, who wrapped up a six-game road trip with a flourish.
Pittsburgh goaltender Matt Murray made 10 saves on 13 shots before he was pulled early in the second period after Cogliano turned a short-handed breakaway into his fifth goal. The Penguins have lost five of seven to slip toward the bottom of the congested Metropolitan Division.
LIGHTNING 3, WILD 0
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 22 shots, Dan Girardi sparked a three-goal barrage with 2:42 left and the Lightning beat the Wild.
Girardi redirected Brayden Point's pass behind goalie Alex Stalock. Tyler Johnson scored 52 seconds later on a shot from the right circle, and Nikita Kucherov scored into an empty net with 53 seconds left.
Stalock made 28 saves, and Minnesota lost for the second straight night after falling 4-2 to Florida on Friday.
Vasilevskiy's fourth shutout of the season gave him an NHL-leading 23 victories.
BRUINS 3, RED WINGS 1
BOSTON (AP) — Patrice Bergeron scored twice in the third period, helping the Bruins to their fourth straight victory.
Brad Marchand had a goal and two assists and Tuukka Rask finished with 30 saves for Boston, which has won seven of nine overall.
Frans Nielsen scored Detroit's only goal and Jimmy Howard stopped 23 shots for the Red Wings, who lost despite outshooting Boston 31-25.
The game was tied at 1 when Bergeron scored his ninth of the season at 6:11 on a one-timer Howard never saw. Marchand set up Bergeron's shot from the left circle with a pass across the slot for his 198th career assist.
ISLANDERS 5, JETS 2
NEW YORK (AP) — Mathew Barzal scored three times and Jaroslav Halak made 38 saves, leading the Islanders to the victory.
The 20-year-old Barzal scored twice in the first period after Anders Lee got New York on the board 1:31 into the game. Barzal finished his first career hat trick with his 12th goal at 11:22 of the third.
The Islanders (19-13-4) had dropped two in a row and four of five.
But Halak was able to smother the high-flying Jets. He allowed a first-period goal to rookie
OILERS 4, CANADIENS 1
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Edmonton star Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist before leaving after blocking a shot with his skate late in the third period.
Coach Todd McLellan said X-rays came back negative and he expects McDavid to be back in the lineup when the Oilers return to play next week against Winnipeg.
Ryan Strome, Milan Lucic and Jujhar Khaira also scored to help the Oilers extend their winning streak to a season-high four games. Cam Talbot stopped 29 shots.
Andrew Shaw scored for the Canadiens, coming off a 3-2 victory in Calgary on Friday night.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Kyle Brodziak had a goal and an assist, and St. Louis Blues a three-game skid with a victory over Vancouver.
Patrik Berglund and Alexander Steen also scored for St. Louis, which got 30 saves from Jake Allen.
Brock Boeser got his team-leading 20th goal for Vancouver. Jacob Markstrom stopped 31 shots.
HURRICANES 4, SABRES 2
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Justin Faulk scored two goals, Teuvo Teravainen had three assists and the Hurricanes beat the Sabres.
Carolina has won five of its last six games and has points in seven of the past nine. Sebastian Aho and Jordan Staal also scored for the Hurricanes, and Cam Ward made 20 saves.
Faulk scored both of his goals in the second, helping Carolina to a 4-1 lead. The
Nathan Beaulieu and Zemgus Girgensons scored for Buffalo, and Jack Eichel had two assists. The Sabres have allowed four or more goals in regulation 16 times this season.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Pierre-Luc DuBois' first NHL shootout goal lifted the Blue Jackets to the win.
It was Columbus' 11th consecutive home victory over Philadelphia dating to 2008. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 30 shots for his 20th win.
The Flyers dropped their second in a row and third in the past four games. Brian Elliott made 35 saves.
Columbus jumped in front on Seth Jones' seventh goal of the season at 17:08 of the first period.
The Flyers tied it in the second.

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — James Reimer made 38 saves and Jonathan Huberdeau scored in the second period, leading Florida to the win at home.
Reimer got his first shutout since April 9 at Washington. He was playing in his ninth straight game and second in two nights after beating Minnesota 4-2 on Friday.
Ottawa backup Mike Condon stopped 37 shots, but couldn't turn away Huberdeau when he went top shelf 1:36 into the second. Ottawa has dropped three straight.
AVALANCHE 6, COYOTES 2
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Carl Soderberg scored twice, the first to start a four-goal burst in the second period, and Colorado routed Arizona.
After Soderberg opened the scoring at 10:20 of the second, J.T. Compher, Nail Yakupov and Matt Nieto added goals in less than four minutes. Sven Andrighetto had a power-play goal in the third, and Soderberg completed the scoring. Semyon Varlamov stopped 31 shots for the Avalanche, allowing only Derek Stepan's two short-handed goals.
STARS 4, PREDATORS 3, SO
DALLAS (AP) — Alexander Radulov and Tyler Seguin scored during the shootout, Ben Bishop had 29 saves and Dallas beat Nashville.
Bishop was 2 for 2 in the shootout after surviving a 5-on-3 during overtime. The Predators outshot Dallas 5-1 in OT.
Nashville's Ryan Johansen made it 3-3 about five minutes into the third period on a power play. The Predators had led 2-0 on goals from Alexei Emelin and Calle Jarnkrok in the first period.
Seguin scored on a power play in the first to make it 2-1, and then Antoine Roussel and Martin Hanzal scored in the second to put Dallas up 3-2.
Nashville's Juuse Saros made 25 saves but stopped only 1 of 3 in the shootout and lost for the first time in three starts against Dallas.
