Terri Houston returns to LSSU to speak on Martin luther King Jr Day

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI - Consultant and speaker Terri Houston will return to Lake Superior State University to give a free presentation on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 18.

Houston, who last spoke at LSSU in 2014, will present God, Gays and Guns: MLK’s Dream Deferred? at 6 p.m. in the Walker Cisler Center Superior Room.

The community is welcome.

Houston is a widely sought after speaker whose persuasive, energetic and humorous message of visionary leadership will entertain as well as educate.

She is a well-known teacher and trainer of students, college administrators, and business professionals.

Her 25 years of progressive higher education experience, coupled with her enthusiastic leadership style, has helped countless universities, community groups and businesses build strong inclusive organizations, and has helped thousands in finding their purpose and establishing their visions.

Houston served for over 13 years as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s senior director for recruitment and multicultural programs.

She previously worked at Iowa State University as assistant dean of students and was director of student activities and leadership at Ferris State University.

A native of Chicago, she holds a bachelor’s degree from Loras College of Dubuque, Iowa, and a master’s degree in counselor education from Central Michigan University.

She is a certified diversity and safe-zone trainer, and professionally accredited through the Central Association of College and University Business Officers.

Additionally, she is a faculty member with the Center for Leadership Development and serves on several national boards and associations.

Houston, a certified life coach, frequently consults and lectures around the country on topics ranging from leadership and organizational development, educational and career advancement, and personal and professional engagement.
