Northern Credit Union (NCU) and Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce (SSMCOC) are partnering to launch the Small Business Too Big to Ignore campaign for Northern Ontario this week in Sault Ste. Marie with a free networking event.
Small Business Too Big to Ignore is a province-wide campaign, initiated by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and adopted by the SSMCOC, to bring greater focus to the needs of our Small Business Community and to celebrate their contributions to creating prosperity.
“The vital role of small businesses in driving the economy of the North is often under recognized,” says Northern Credit Union Senior Vice President, Tony Dunham. “We want to engage these important businesses in investigating the barriers to growth and identify solutions to overcome these challenges.”
“Small businesses make up about 85 per cent of our membership,” says Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Rory Ring. Paul Johnson, President of the SSMCOC adds, “With this campaign, we also hope to identify any local actions that we can take or support to help small business survive and grow.”
Small business owners and their employees, as well as the public, from across the region are invited to attend the Small Business Too Big to Ignore launch party.
There will be live music, great food from the new Mill Restaurant and the Machine Shop, and prizes along with the opportunity to network with other business owners.
The event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 8 at The Machine Shop, 75 Huron Street, Sault Ste. Marie. The doors open at 5 p.m
