NEWS RELEASE

SAULT STE. MARIE DOWN SYNDROME SOCIETY

It’s That Time of Year Again!

The Sault Ste. Marie Down Syndrome Society is celebrating Canadian Down Syndrome Week November 1-7th.  During this time, we are distributing our 2017 calendar. It’s free to anyone that wishes to receive a copy.

Our theme this year is “We are EXTRAordinary Characters.”  It was designed and photographed by local photographer, Emila Junor of Emilya Junor Photography. Emilya said, “Being able to meet such amazing families and work with such fun people was a great experience”

Throughout the calendar we expose myths and answer truths about what Down syndrome is and isn’t about.

First time being featured in our calendar is a new comer to the Sault, Ashley. This friendly and beautiful five-year-old was thrilled to see her picture in the calendar and was happy to show it to her family.

To obtain a copy of our free calendar contact us via email: [email protected] or Facebook Sault Ste Marie Down Syndrome Society

Two free resources from the Canadian Down Syndrome Society are available for anyone that would like to know how to support and enable those with Down syndrome to promote their growth and development so that their lives may be enriched and that they may reach their full potentials as members of society in Sault Ste. Marie.

Free educator package for parents and educators: “The Canadian Down Syndrome Society’s Educator Package assists teachers and parents working with children with Down syndrome in providing optimal education through a fully inclusive classroom”

Free employment package for employers: We believe in inclusive and supported employment that allows those with Down syndrome to have fair and equitable employment opportunities that are meaningful and for fair wages.

Thank You Sault Ste. Marie for opening doors for all people and celebrating diversity.
