FRANCOPHONE GARDENING 101 WORKSHOP

This workshop will cover the basics of vegetable gardening, whether you have or want to start an indoor or outdoor garden. It's not too late to start your garden this season! There will be three classes; June 11, 18 and 25. We will provide the necessary materials for you to get hands-on experience with seeding and planting. We will also provide physical and digital resources for you to better grasp the material and continue learning after the workshop.  

The first class will focus on what to plant, such as what will grow in that area, where to plant, where to start your garden, and the space available. Then, what soil you need for your garden if you are using your own soil or store-bought. We will also cover fertilizer, compost and mulch.   

The second class will cover container gardening, which is for the indoor gardener but also for those who don't have much outdoor space. As well as raised bed gardening and traditional gardening. Then on how to get started and plant your seeds.   

Everyone ages 17 and up come to your museum to learn more about beginning gardening. 

Location: 690 Queen St. E., Sault Ste. Marie Museum 

How to register: Tickets are available online for $25 for all three classes or $12 per class. 

Time: 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. 

Dates: 

June 11: What and where to plant; soil, compost, fertilizer and mulch.  

June 18: Container, raised bed and traditional gardens, and how to plant. 

June 25: Maintaining your gardens, harvesting and preparing your gardens for winter.
