ALGOMA TOASTMASTERS

Algoma Toastmasters, invites residents to meet members and watch an International Speech and Evaluation contest.
“Since 1924, Toastmasters International has been recognized as the leading organization dedicated to communication and leadership skill development. Through its worldwide network of clubs, each week Toastmasters helps more than a quarter million men and women of every ethnicity, education level and profession build their competence in communication so they can gain the confidence to lead others,” says Matthew Lance, Club President for Toastmasters 2648.
The club International Speech contest will have Matthew Lance, Club President and Maggie Gasparetto, VP of Public Relations, compete against eachother for best speech at the club level. Their speeches will be scored by experienced Toastmasters on items such as speech value, voice quality, and manner.
The club Evaluation contest consists of a secret speaker brought in to deliver a target speech. The contestants will deliver evaluations of this target speech and be judged on their ability to give constructive criticism. The winners of these two contests at the club level will go on to compete at the area level.
