$15,000 for Breton House repairs

Ontario is investing $15,000 through the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund (CIRF) to help Breton House with replacement of a walkway that leads into the facility, announced David Orazietti, MPP.

“This funding is part of our government’s commitment to ensure that Ontarians receive care in a safe and healthy environment,” said Orazietti. “This funding will help improve the facilities and operational capacity of Breton House by supporting minor infrastructure renewal projects in accordance with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s CIRF guidelines for 2016-2017.”

The CIRF funding will enable Breton House to replace an existing walkway and conduct repairs to a ramp and structural posts at the entrance to the building.

The funding is part of the $4.1 million in 2016–17 to community health service providers across the province to keep these agencies in a state of good repair so patients can continue to receive high-quality care in a safe and healthy environment.

“By building a safer and more accessible walkway, thanks to this investment, we hope it will improve the experience of women seeking addiction treatment at Breton House, which plays an important role in our system of addiction care in Northeastern Ontario,” said Louise Paquette, CEO of the North East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).

Across Ontario, 59 community health service providers at 70 sites will receive funding to support crucial infrastructure projects to extend the useful life of their facilities, improve accessibility and enhance quality of care. Projects may include upgrades or replacements to roofs, windows, HVAC systems and fire alarms.

“Our agency is grateful to receive news that the CIRF funding has been approved for our walkway repair project. This funding will aide us in our efforts to ensure that our facility is safe and accessible to all who enter. We thank the Ministry for the approval of these funds,” said Mickey Naccarato, Executive Director, Breton House.

Increased investment in community health care is part of the government’s plan to build a better Ontario through its Patients First: Action Plan for Health Care.

This plan provides clients with faster access to the right care, better home and community care, the information they need to live healthy, and a health care system that is sustainable for generations to come.
