A group of local youth bowlers will be among the 64 Provincial Champions taking part in the Canadian Youth Championships this weekend in Sault Ste. Marie.
Team Northern Ontario includes Noah Pringle, Hailey Lappalainen, Mya Dupplaissie, Matthew Massicotte-Finch and Josh Woolley from the Sault; as well as Avery and Austin Wilson, and Abbigail Gunsinger from Thunder Bay.
"The championships provide a platform for youth bowlers to showcase their skills, compete at the highest level, and foster a love for the sport," says a news release. "Sault Ste. Marie has been selected as the host city due to its, enthusiastic community support, and commitment to promoting high caliber youth sports."

From May 19 to May 21, 2023, 64 Provincial Champions from across Canada will be in Sault Ste. Marie for the Canadian Youth Championships. Over 200 friends, family and coaches will accompany the young bowlers and call Sault Ste. Marie home for four days as the youth bowlers engage us in riveting competition.
The championships provide a platform for youth bowlers to showcase their skills, compete at the highest level, and foster a love for the sport. Sault Ste. Marie has been selected as the host city due to its, enthusiastic community support, and commitment to promoting high caliber youth sports.
Bowlers aged 8 to 22 will display their talent and tenacity across various age divisions during the championships. The competition promises to be intense as these young athletes aim for strikes, spares, and personal bests while vying for the coveted Canadian Youth Bowling Championship titles.
Sault Ste. Marie will also be showcasing local talent. Noah Pringle, Hailey Lappalainen, Mya Dupplaissie, Matthew Massicotte-Finch and Josh Woolley will all compete this weekend and represent northern Ontario. Rounding out team Northern Ontario is Avery and Austin Wilson and Abbigail Gunsinger from Thunder Bay.
The 2023 Canadian Youth Bowling Championships will not only be a showcase of bowling excellence, says Liisa Woolley, Northern Ontario team manager, but also a platform for personal growth, camaraderie, and valuable life lessons.
