Spits Acquire Shutron, Unice and Timmins from Rangers

(Windsor) The Windsor Spitfires today announced that they have acquired overage defenseman Ben Shutron, goaltender Josh Unice and forward Scott Timmins from the Kitchener Rangers.

In exchange, the Spitfires have sent goaltender Brandon Maxwell, overage forward Jacob Lalonde as well as a third round pick (2009) and second round selections in the 2010 and 2011 OHL Priority Selections.

All three players acquired by the Spitfires join the team with impressive credentials. Ben Shutron was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the fourth round (95th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and was named to the Memorial Cup All-Star team last year in Kitchener. Also joining the Spitfires, Josh Unice was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the third round (86th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and represented Team USA at this year's World Junior Hockey Championships in Ottawa. Rounding up the trade, Scott Timmins is currently tied for fourth in this year's OHL Scoring Race with 25 goals and 24 assists for 49 points in 38 games.

"We are very pleased to add strength to every position on our team. All three players acquired from the Rangers have OHL and Memorial Cup Championship experience. In making this trade, we still have the core of our team intact and we expect to be a contending team not only for this year but for next season as well," said Windsor Spitfires Vice-President and General Manager Warren Rychel.
