The Wildcats opened play against the Sudbury lady Wolves and we were able to hold them off to win 3-0. It was a 1-0 game for 2 periods and our goalie saw a lot of shots in the second half of the game. we were able to seal the win with a second goal and added an empty netter. Goal scorers were Brittany Syms with two, one into the empty net, and Jasmine Roy. Amanda Alexander had the shut-out.

The second game was with the Hamilton Hawks. They were a fast skating team that moved the puck well. The girls were feeling the fatigue from the short delay between games one and two and Hamilton handed the Sault team their first loss of the season, beating them by 2 - 0 score.

The third game was against Willowdale Red Wings. The Sault jumped out to an early 2 - 0 first period lead but the Red Wings didn't quit and they tied the game @ 2-2 after two periods. The third period proved to be a nail biter, with the Sault going up 3-2, only to have the Red Wings tie it up again. With around 4 minutes left the Sault team we went for good and won the game 4-3. Scoring for the Wildcats were Olivia Pavoni with two and Syms again contributing two goals.

Mid Canada Construction Midget AA Wildcats

Mid Canada Construction Midget AA Wildcats played three highly competitive games in the Toronto Aeros Future Stars Fall Female Showcase Weekend last weekend with 24 teams across six pools and only 8 teams able to advance to quarter finals.

In their first game against St. Thomas Panthers, the Wildcats battled through 24 minutes in penalties handed to them, including over 4 minutes defending 5-on-3 situations, to find themselves down 3-0 with 3 minutes left in the game.

With their goalie, Dana Desaulnier pulled for an extra attacker, 2 goals by Katie Komsa pulled the Wildcats to within 1 goal with a minute remaining with assists from Cassie MacFarlane and Sarah McCulloch. With the clock running down, the Wildcats hit a goal post that created a rebound and the opportunity for St. Thomas Panthers to score an empty net goal and defeat the Wildcats 4-2.

Mid Canada Construction Wildcats played Barrie Sharks AA Midgets in game 2 again rising above the adversity of being dealt 22 minutes in penalties under the new rule enforcement initiative, including 330 seconds defending 5-on-3. Leading 1-0 at the end of the first period on a goal by Megan Parlowe and assisted by Morgan Tersigni, Mid Canada Wildcats finished a hard fought second period up 2-1 with another marker with Jenna Buck deflecting Sarah McCulloch's point shot setup by Deralise Mills.

With back and forth action in the 3rd period, the Wildcats received a 2nd goal from Megan Parlowe with the assist going to Shannon McInnis.

Requiring a win against Hamilton Hawks to advance, Mid Canada Wildcats came out overly cautious to face intense offensive pressure from the Hawks. Dana Desaulnier delivered phenomenal save after save to keep her team on a scoreless game until the Wildcats were scored with a player in the box late in the first period. Battling a 1-0 deficit in the 2nd period, Mid Canada Wildcats were handed 4 minor penalties within 4.5 minutes defending a continual 5-on-3 situation only to find themselves down 5-0 when 5-on-5 play finally resumed.

Paying the price for penalties against a strong team, the Wildcats were dealt a 9-0 loss giving the Hamilton Hawks a perfect 3-0 record to advance from the pool.
