Curlers from the Sault remain perfect at the 2025 Montana’s Brier after the second full day of action in Kelowna, B.C.
Brad Jacobs, skipping an Alberta-based team that includes third Marc Kennedy, second Brett Gallant, and lead Ben Hebert, moved to 2-0 on Sunday night thanks to a convincing 20-2 win over Aaron Bartling’s team from Northwest Territories.
The Jacobs rink opened the scoring with the hammer in the opening end, taking a 3-0 lead early.
After Bartling scored a single in the second end, Jacobs went on a run to break the game open by scoring four in the third end before steals of five in the fourth end, one in the fifth and two more in the sixth made it 15-1.
Jacobs capped off the scoring with five more in the eighth end.
Team Jacobs returns to action in the afternoon draw on Monday against Tyler Smith of Prince Edward Island.
In their lone game of the day, the Dunstone rink picked up a 7-4 win over Cameron de Jong of British Columbia in Sunday’s afternoon draw.
With the hammer to start, Dunstone jumped out to an early lead with three in the opening end and held a 5-2 lead through four ends.
After de Jong scored a single in the fifth and stole one more in the seventh, Dunstone sealed the win with a pair in the ninth end.
Team Northern Ontario, skipped by John Epping, fell to 2-1 Sunday after a 6-5 loss to Brad Gushue’s Team Canada rink.
Dunstone and Epping are slated to meet in Monday’s morning draw.
Epping, who is 2-1 heading into Monday, will then face de Jong in the evening draw.
The round robin portion of the 10-day event runs through Thursday with Page Playoff qualifying games on Friday and playoff action on Saturday and Sunday.
