As Hockey Canada prepares for a pair of development camps and a selection camp in late-July, the Soo Greyhounds will be represented in all three camps.

With Hockey Canada’s Under-18 selection camp set to open on July 26 in Calgary, Greyhounds defenceman Ryan O’Rourke was among the invites.

The camp will be used to select the team that will represent Canada at the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, which opens on Aug. 5 in Breclav, Czech Republic and Piestany, Slovakia.

O’Rourke, the Greyhounds top pick in the 2018 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, earned rave reviews in his first season with the club.

The 17-year-old blueliner scored eight goals, including three game winners, and 22 points in 62 games in 2018-19, spending the early part of the season paired with overage defenceman Jordan Sambrook before moving onto a pairing with overage Mac Hollowell for the second half of the season.

When Hockey Canada’s National Junior Team Development Camp opens on July 27 in Plymouth, Mich., Greyhounds forward Barrett Hayton will be among the invites.

The 19-year-old Arizona Coyotes prospect scored 26 goals and 66 points in just 39 games in 2018-19 with the Greyhounds.

Hayton was one of 13 OHL players invited to the camp.

Hockey Canada’s U17 camp, which opens on July 19 in Calgary, will see Greyhounds prospect Jacob Holmes as part of the camp.

The lone Greyhounds prospect attending the camp, Holmes was selected 18th overall in the 2019 OHL draft from the York Simcoe Express minor midget team.

With Cole MacKay participating in the Vegas Golden Knights development camp this week, a handful of other undrafted Greyhounds are attending NHL development camps this week.

Forwards Joe Carroll and Tyr Kartye are attending the development camp of the Toronto Maple Leafs while Cullen McLean is also at the Vegas camp.
