With local skiing enthusiasts already being teased with the prospect of snow, the Searchmont Ski Runners are ready to help those who are wanting to get ready for the season.

The Ski Runners will hold a major fundraising event on Saturday as they will host the Pontiac GMC Ski and Snowboard Wax Day. The event will be staged at Prouse Motors on Great Northern Road from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The Ski Runners will provide waxing for skis and snowboards and all participants will be entered in a draw for Salomon prize pack. The fee for the event is $5 and all proceeds go to the Ski Runners.

The Searchmont group is joining several other ski organization from across the country for a day of fundraising held in conjunction with the Pontiac GMC dealerships.

Members of the team, coaches, executive and club members will also be on hand to discuss and help anyone interested in joining the program.

The Ski Runners have produced some quality talent over the years including Brigitte Acton, a current member of the Alpine Canada Development Team, who is expected to see action on the World Cup circuit this winter.

Lauren Lattimer is currently skiing on a scholarship at the University of Utah while her younger sister Amy Lattimer is currently skiing for Team Ontario.

Two years ago, the club sent three skiers to the Canadian Juvenile Ski Championships.
