Thunderbirds surrender seven goals in loss

Six different players had goals for Rayside in a win over the Soo Thunderbirds

The Soo Thunderbirds dropped a 7-1 decision to the Rayside-Balfour Canadians on Saturday night at the John Rhodes Community Centre in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action.

The Canadians broke the game open in the second period with three goals before sealing the win by adding three more in the third.

Giordano Biondi led Rayside with a pair of goals.

Matthew Belanger, Mitchell Martin, Brett Jacklin, and Nicholas DeGrazia chipped in with a goal and an assist each for the Canadians.

Gregory Arnberg also scored.

Gavin Brown assisted on three goals for the Canadians.

Tyler Savard had the lone goal for the Thunderbirds.

Sam Evola got the start for the Thunderbirds but was pulled midway through the second period after giving up three goals on 14 shots.

Dakota Meyer stopped 15 of 19 shots the rest of the way.

Rayside goaltender David Bowen made 37 saves.

The Thunderbirds return to action on Sunday afternoon on the road in Blind River against the Beavers.
