The Soo Thunderbirds are back on the winning track after blanking the Rayside Balfour Sabrecats on Thursday night.
A pair of goals by Aaron Anderson and Mike MacMillan paced the Thunderbirds to the 6-0 win in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action.
Anderson started the offensive output with both of his goals in the first period to give the Thunderbirds a 2-0 lead.
D.J. Jelitto scored in the second frame while MacMillan notched back-to-back goals and Alex Butkus added another in the third period to complete the scoring.
Tom Vernelli and Mark Evans recorded a pair of assists each.
Frank Carlucci stopped 33 shots in net for the Thunderbirds to record the shutout. The T-Birds peppered the Sabrecats goal with 46 shots.
With the win, the Thunderbirds improve to 13-2-2-1 for 29 points and an 11 point spread over second place Northern Michigan in the NOJHL's West Division.
The Thunderbirds return to action on Friday night as the Michigan Soo Kewadin Casino Indians visit the John Rhodes Community Centre at 7:30 p.m. for an exhibition contest.
The Thunderbirds will look to avenge a 7-1 loss to the Indians last Saturday night in the Michigan Sault.
