The Soo Thunderbirds extended their winning streak to six games on Friday night.
An early goal by Nolan Ford was the eventual game-winner as the Thunderbirds blanked the Blind River Beavers 4-0 in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at the John Rhodes Community Centre.
Ford opened the scoring in the contest 4:07 in with a power play marker.
Colton Hayes made it 2-0 in the middle frame with his first of two goals on the night and the Thunderbirds sealed the win in the third on goals by Jordan Broome and Hayes.
Hayes finished the night with two goals and an assist while Avery Rebek assisted on three goals.
Thunderbirds goaltender Sam Evola made 32 saves for the shutout.
Blind River goaltender Dominic Boily stopped 28 shots.
With the win, the Thunderbirds improve to 27-14-2-3 while Blind River falls to 31-11-1-3.
The two teams are set to meet again on Saturday night in the back end of a home-and-home series as the weekend set shifts to Blind River
