Figure skating clubs from all over the province were in Sault Ste Marie this weekend for a competition.
The Lake Superior Figure Skating Club (LSFSC) Skate Ontario Provincial Series saw over 120 athletes from 19 clubs come to the city in hopes of qualifying for Provincials in March.
“Those qualifying events included Star 5 – Gold as well as Pre-Juvenile and Juvenile,” said LSFSC in a news release.
“The competition also included non-qualifying events for skaters from Star 1-5. The competition also included Skate Ontario Adult figure skating events.”
LSFSC was represented by 23 figure skaters in its second competition of the season.
“Our athletes have been working very hard and it showed in their results,” said Head Coach Kerry Bain.
“Many personal best scores were achieved. Our skaters are looking forward to the next two Provincial qualifiers before the final Provincial Championship held in March.”
The next Skate Ontario Provincial Series competition for the LSFSC skaters will be Thunder Bay Open in March 1-3.
