The Sault Tenaris Civics soccer team turned an opening game loss on Saturday morning into a berth in the Ontario Cup Soccer semi-finals in Markham in August.

In the double round robin tournament, Tenaris dropped a 2-1 decision at the hands of Oshawa to open the Boys Under-15 division action on Saturday, and then proceeded to win three straight games to earn their semi-final berth.

Matt Santos scored the lone Soo goal in the loss.

Oshawa then dropped a 4-1 decision to Windsor in the second game on Saturday.

Windsor then faced Tenaris in the final game on Saturday and dropped a 3-0 decision to Tenaris, who received two goals from Nick Peter and one from Santos.

Tenaris opened up Sunday's action with a rematch against Windsor and received another two goal performance from Peters to win the game 2-1.

In Sunday's second game between Windsor and Oshawa, an Oshawa win would mean that the winner of the final game of the tournament between Tenaris and Oshawa would be off to the semi-finals.

Oshawa proceeded to shut out Windsor to set up the fateful game against the locals.

In the final game, a win or tie by Oshawa would give them the tournament and the semi-final berth while Tenaris needed a win to move on.

After falling behind 1-0 in the opening half, Peters, with his fifth goal of the tournament, and Rusty Mitre scored for Tenaris to give them a lead that they would never relinquish as they took the game 2-1 and earned the semi-final berth.

The semi-final, which is a one-game showdown, will take place on August 28 in Markham against a yet to be determined opponent.
