Team Jacobs' weekend ends early as organizers forced to cancel playoff round

They finished the first tournament of the season with a perfect record though they didn’t come out with a title.

Brad Jacobs and his team from the Community First Curling Centre were scheduled to play this afternoon in playoff round action at the Stu Sells Tankard Sunday at the KW Granite Club in Waterloo, Ont.

In a post on social media just after 1 p.m. Sunday, the team announced that they remainder of their event had been cancelled due to a player being notified that they had been in close contact with someone who had tested positive for COVID-19.

The Jacobs rink, which included third Marc Kennedy, second E.J. Harnden, and lead Ryan Harnden, was scheduled to face Jason Camm of Ottawa on Sunday afternoon in semifinal action at the three-day event.

Team Jacobs went 5-0 in round robin action at the tournament, posting a pair of wins on opening day before picking up three more victories on Saturday.
