The St. Mary's Knights and St. Basil Saints skated away with victories in high school hockey action on Wednesday night at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

The St. Mary's Knights and St. Basil Saints skated away with victories in high school hockey action on Wednesday night at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

Justin Soltys recorded the shutout in goal as the Knights blanked the White Pines Wolverines 3-0 in the opening contest.

Matt Kudyba led the Knights offensive attack with a goal and two assists while singles went to Mitch Butcher and Tyler Thompson.

In the second game, the Saints needed a Patrick Defazio penalty shot save on Nick King to hold on for a 4-3 win over the CASS Huskies.

Rob Amadio, Eric Naccarato, Tom Loza and Nathan Richichi scored for St. Basil while Kyle Brick, Calahan Spurway and Jordan Dominie replied for the Huskies.

Action continues on Saturday at Memorial Gardens as St. Basil takes on Korah at 6 p.m. followed by White Pines and Bawating at 7:45 p.m.

On Monday, CASS meets St. Mary's at 3:25 p.m. at the Rhodes.
