St. Basil also earns a trip to OFSAA

The St. Basil Saints will also represent the city at the Ontario Federation of Schools Athletic Association (OFSAA) championships after capturing the regional crown in Sudbury on Saturday.

At the Northern Ontario Secondary Schools Association (NOSSA) single A playdowns, the Saints took the senior division championship with a 48-39 win over North Bay Algonquin in the final.

The Saints will begin the OFSAA 'A' championships on Thursday in Sturgeon Falls.

Lara Stilin paced the Saints with 12 points in the win while Adrianna Bruni added 11 and Amanda Vernelli eight.

The Saints opened the tournament on Friday with a pair of wins beginning with a 46-22 win over Manitoulin before scoring a 47-36 win over Algonquin.

Stilin scored 14 points in the win over Manitoulin before dropping 20 more against Algonquin.
