Adam Filek and Alexandra Tracy proved to be the top fish on Saturday in Elliot Lake.

Filek and Tracy each posted five first place results to lead the 28-swimmer team from the Sault Ste. Marie Aquatic Club at the Top Fish Swim Meet.

Filek captured honours in the boys 9-10 year-old category in the 50 and 100 metre freestyle, the 50 metre backstroke and breaststroke and the 100 metre individual medley.

In the girls eight-and-under division, Tracy won the 25 metre freestyle, backstroke and butterfly, the 100 metre individual medley and the 50 metre freestyle.

Steven Lee also had a solid weekend for SSMAC in the boys eight-and-under section with four firsts in the 25 metre freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly and the 50 metre freestyle to go with a second in the 25 metre backstroke.

Other first place winners were Hannah Murray, Kendall Barban and Erin Lee. Murray added two second place finishes while Barban also recorded a second and a third.

Others to place in the top three include Carrie-Lynne Smale, Kailee Valois, Ryan Griswold, Michael Lawrence, Sara Matthews, Amelia Marrato, Patric Bentrovato, and Brendan Wilton.

"This was a meet for our younger athletes to shine," says SSMAC coach Nancy Day. "These results are another indication that SSMAC has a strong future ahead with many youthful swimmers ready to form a strong nucleus of our club."

Other participating clubs included the Soo Y Dolphins, the Espanola Electric Eels, the Sturgeon Falls Swim Club, the Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club, the Valley East Waves, and the host Elliot Lake Aquatic Club.

SSMAC returns to action at the long course championships in Sudbury in June.
