The Women's Hockey League put another season in the books as Source For Sports captured the league title with an overtime victory in the championship game.

Mona Jones' wrap around goal in overtime gave Source For Sports a 2-1 victory over Palmer Paving on Sunday.

The league completed the playoff rounds with a consolation championship, third place game and a "Cellar Stars" game.

The following is a complete recap of the playoff finales courtesy of the WHL's Lorie Springall:

*** WEEK # 14 - April 4th:

Source For Sports captured the WHL playoff championship Sunday with a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory against Palmer Paving.

Mona Jones was the hero with a wrap around effort, just barely beating Palmer netminder Carolyn Tomchuk. Stephanie Bean and Heather Coutu had the assists on the winning goal just 17 seconds into the second overtime.

Bean played an exceptional game, scoring Source's first goal unassisted late in the second period.

In an exciting finish to regulation time, Palmer's Debbie Desgagne tied things up with 1:10 remaining, ruining goaltender Laurie Terris' shut out and sending the game into overtime. Lori Swan had the only assist on the tying goal.

Following the game, Source For Sports was presented with the playoff championship trophy, the Keith McWatters Memorial Cup.

The trophy was donated by Colleen McLean and family in memory of Colleen's father. Colleen has played in the WHL for two seasons, this year with Algoma Insurance. Her father, Keith McWatters, was an avid hockey player, coach and organizer before passing away in January, 2002.

In earlier games, Crawford's Canines shone in the "Cellar Stars" finale, defeating Algoma Insurance 5-1. Chrissy Wade scored her first of the season with 53 seconds left in the third period. She also added one assist.

Other goal scorers for the Canines were Donna Smith, Tanya Dowding, Barb Willoughby and Carrie Mancuso. Elaine Angelic had two assists and Christine Robertson, one. Laurie Laudadio had the lone marker for Algoma Insurance with Donna May Sayers-Lariviere picking up an assist.

League Champions Country Way won their final game of the season to finish third in the playoff race. The Granolas beat Lafarge 3-1 as Marg VanLandenghem netted her first of the season and Kristy Kernaghen and Brenda Frey each scored once.

Kernaghen also had one assist along with Sherry "Sniper" Boston, Christine Trivers and Andrea Moraca. Debbie "Bam Bam" Beauchamp scored Lafarge's only goal from Natalie King.

Joanne "Jersey" Pine stole the show in the Consolation final as Skip's Kweok defeated Investors Group 5-3. Pine had a four point game with two goals and two assists, helping Natalie Barry earn a hattrick in the win. Other assists went to Marg Skulech, Jo-Ann Jones, Brenda Sayers and Kyla Sewell.

Sarah Fischer scored twice for Investors while Francine "Flash" Floreani scored once and had a helper. Patti Lutz, Ellen MacDougall and Deedee Watson also had one assist each.

Awards were handed out afterwards at the league wrap-up party held at Joey Calzones. This year's "Oldest Player Reimbursement Award" went to Joey "the goalie" Montgomery (age withheld) of Algoma Insurance.

Players are not allowed to win this award more than once, so last year's winner, Betty Buck, was out of the running. In fact, Betty remains the league's oldest player at age 60.

Country Way sponsored a new award this year, the Team Sportsmanship Award, which went to Investors Group. The Sharon Abrams Award, presented to the player who best displays Commitment, Courage and Clutziness went to Skip's Kweok goalie, Marion Seymour.

Finally, League Organizers presented Crawford's Canines goalie Teri Bonnell with a special Volunteer of the Year Award for her dedication and commitment to the WHL.
