The Michigan Soo's Kewadin Casino Indians Junior A hockey club will be no longer after the end of the season.
The team has been a first-class and very successful franchise in the North American Hockey League led by hockey boss Joe Shawhan and rest of the organization.
After a trip to the national championships held at the Big Bear Arena last season, the Indians are currently on a tear this season by sitting in first place overall in the league with a 28 win, two loss and five overtime loss record.
The decision to disband the team was made by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Board of Directors due to large expenses attached to running a high calibre junior hockey team.
