A day after adding 19-year-old defenceman from the Peterborough Petes in a trade, the Soo Greyhounds have looked to the Western Hockey League to add a forward via the waiver wire.

The team announced this afternoon the addition of Camerin Cardona in a waiver wire acquisition.

Cardona, from Anaheim, Calif., spent the past two seasons with the WHL's Tri-City Americans.

Cardona had an assist in 14 games with the Americans last season before having his season cut short due to injury.

Drafted seventh overall in the 2021 WHL U.S. Priority Draft, Cardona played in 39 games with the Americans during the 2022-23 season, scoring a goal and three assists.

Prior to getting drafted by the Americans, Cardona scored 46 goals in 55 games as a member of the Anaheim IceDogs 15U AAA team.
