Sir James Dunn claims cross country title

The Sir James Dunn Eagles won both the boys and girls overall titles to claim the aggregate championship at the High School Cross Country City Championship meet at Kinsmen Park on Tuesday.

In the boys divisions, Rocky Robitaille won the senior boys division eight kilometre race followed by Sir James Dunn's Peter Lachowsky and Korah's Colin Nickel. Sir James Dunn's Matt Cuddy won the junior boys seven kilometre race with White Pines' Kevin Sawyer and SJD's Brent Jarrett finishing in second and third place, respectively. In the midget five kilometre race, St. Mary's John Harvey won followed by SJD's Reg Peer and Joey Lachowsky.

On the girls side, Sir James Dunn's Marnie Smith captured the senior girls five kilometre race followed by SJD's Heather McLeod and White Pines' Hilary Gordon. Kristen Johnson of SJD won the junior girls four kilometre race with White Pines' Leila Jarrell and SJD's Kristen Avery following. In the midget three kilometre race, Brittany Shamess of SJD claimed the win followed by White Pines' Karen Alexander and Korah's Kaitlyn Train.

The Sault will host the upcoming Northern Ontario Secondary Schools Association (NOSSA) championships at Kinsmen Park on October 24.
