Sault College remains unbeaten heading into round robin finale at nationals

The team is set to face Boston University to cap off round robin play on Sunday

The Sault College women’s hockey team remains unbeaten at the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division II National Championship.

After opening the tournament on Friday with a victory over Boston College, Sault College improved to 2-0 Saturday with a win over the University of St. Thomas.

In a game that saw them outshoot their opponent by a 34-9 margin, Sault College cruised to a 7-0 win over St. Thomas.

Sault College opened the scoring with a pair of goals in the opening period en route to the victory.

Emma Lee got Sault College on the board 2:39 into the contest before Materia Land made it a 2-0 game at 10:22.

Lee picked up her second goal of the day in the opening minute of the second period and Zoe Weaver made it 4-0 with 2:46 to go in the period.

Goals by Katelynn Jacques, Payton Stos, and Danika West in the third period capped off the Sault College scoring.

In addition to the two-goal game from Lee, Weaver and Jacques had a goal and an assist each in the win.

Farrah Farstad picked up the shutout for Sault College.

Maddie Mootz got the start in goal for St. Thomas and stopped 15 of 20 shots before coming out of the game early in the third period.

Ellen Coggio stopped 12 of 14 shots in just over 18 minutes of relief.

Sault College will wrap up round robin play on Sunday evening with a game against Boston University.
