SAULT COLLEGE COUGARS HOCKEY
*************************
It was announced to the team, staff and a room full of supporters at Sault College on Thursday night that the Sault College Cougars Hockey team will enjoy the number one seed and get a bye into the ACHA National Championships which takes place in Dallas Texas next month. The Cougars overtook the University of Michigan in the final ranking of the season based on their incredible overall record 23 wins – 2 losses – 1 tie. The Cougars also boast the league’s top point getter Captain Ryan Vendramin, who compiled a remarkable 55 goals 41 assists in 24 games.
This accomplishment ranks amongst one of the all-time greats for Sault College Athletics and the school’s first trip to a hockey championship since they won the OCAA championship back in 2001. The difference this time is that the ACHA is a much larger conference, based largely in the United States and includes major US Colleges.
Head Coach Mike Hall had this to say about his Team’s performance:
“The men have worked hard all year to achieve the number one ranking this year securing a trip to nationals in Dallas Texas. As a staff we’re extremely proud of the men and happy for the school. We look forward to the opportunity.”
The championships run March 26 – March 31 in Dallas Texas. All games will be streamed and also broadcast at Odeno’s campus pub on Sault College campus.
