The Sault College Cougars are cruising into the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association playoffs on a high following a resounding 91-43 win over their crosstown rivals from Algoma University on Wednesday night.
It was the final game of the regular season for both OCAA West Region men's basketball teams. The win for the Cougars pushed their record to 8-4, while Algoma finished at 1-11.
The Cougars finished tied for second in the West Region with the Lambton Lions, who defeated the St. Clair Saints on Wednesday. But Lambton gets second place over Sault College because the Lions outscored the Cougars in splitting a pair of regular-season games.
The Cougars now head to the post-season with a home game vs. the Centennial Colts of the Central Region. The game will be played at 8 p.m. on Friday at the Sault College gym.
