Sault College claws up Algoma

The Sault College Men's basketball team used their entire line-up to pound the Algoma University Thunderbirds 105-54 on Wednesday night at the George Leach Centre. The Cougars had balanced scoring and were led by Jean Louis Ouattara's 21 points.

The Sault College Men's basketball team used their entire line-up to pound the Algoma University Thunderbirds 105-54 on Wednesday night at the George Leach Centre.

The Cougars had balanced scoring and were led by Jean Louis Ouattara's 21 points. Three other players hit double digits including Ryan Vetrie 19, Jeff Rennison 15 and Nathan Whalen 14.

Sault College currently leads the West division with a record of 7-2 while Fanshawe has a game in hand and sits at 6-2. The Cougars now have a short break to enter the All-Star contest at Durham College January 21st.

Participating in the game will be Ouattara and Vetrie while Nathan Whalen will represent the Cougars in the 3 point contest.

The Cougars next home action will be February 3rd (7 pm) and February 4th (2 pm) when Lambton and Redeemer visit.

Meanwhile, the Lady Cougar volleyball team is set to begin their second half of play when they host the Canadore Panthers on Tuesday January 24th @ 6 p.m.

The ladies will be looking to improve upon their 1-8 record.
