*** COUGAR PROFILE OF THE WEEK:
ASHLEY WHITMELL
Ashley Whitmell, pictured, is this week's Cougar Profile of the Week.
Ashley is a rookie for the Lady Cougar volleyball squad. She chose to play volleyball after the cancellation of her preferred varsity sport, basketball.
Ashley, has not played since high-school three years ago, but has quickly adapted to college-level play. This clearly demonstrates the athleticism, and drive that Ashley has. Standing at 5'11, her height makes her an asset to her team, in combination with her powerful serves, and offence from the middle position.
A well-rounded high school athlete, Ashley has a competitive nature that inspires her teammates. With a quiet demeanour off the court, Ashley brings a determined dimension onto the floor come game time, which has a positive impact on the players around her.
"Ashley is improving very quickly, every time she steps on the floor, whether it is a game or a practice. She has a very positive attitude and really supports her team mates" adds head coach Jeremy Murdoch.
Ashley Whitmell is a first year student enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Program. The Varsity program believes that Ashley Whitmell will be a future star in the years that remain in her post-secondary experience.
You can catch Ashley and her teammates in action, when they host Fanshawe Falcons, the weekend of December 3rd and 4th.
