Former Greyhound, NHL, OHL and college hockey players entertained fans on Friday night at the Steelback Centre Charity Cup game.

Several players made the trek to Sault Ste. Marie to join the local heros all in an effort to raise money for the city's new hospital.

While age may not be in favour of some players, the skill and talent remains evident with plenty of nifty passing and highlight reel goals.

After the NHL Alumni, called the Steelback Copperheads, rallied to tie on Jack Valiquette's third goal of the game with goaltender Frank D'Angelo on the bench in favour of an extra skater, the teams entertained fans with a shootout that ended in an 11-10 Greyhounds Alumni win.

Also scoring for the Copperheads were Gary Leeman, Kerry Goulet, Kevin MacKay, Ken Belanger, Darcy Seaton, Dan Galarneau and Ryan Sutherland.

Scoring for the Greyhound Alumni was Mike Oliverio, Alex Haidy and Gary Roach with two each while Brad Baber, Jordan Kennedy, David Doucette and Terry Tait on a penalty shot added singles.

Joey Biasucci and Jake McCracken split the goaltending duties for the Hounds.

Coaching the Copperheads was four-time Stanley Cup champion Eddie "The Entertainer" Shack, who carried a microphone to interact with players and the crowd throughout the game.

Joining Shack behind the bench was Dennis Hull, a 13-year veteran of the Chicago Blackhawks and a member of Team Canada during the 1972 Summit Series.

Other former NHLers to suit up for the game were Rick Nattress, Bill Derlago and Jim Thomson.
