The Soo Jr. Greyhounds played a pair of Great North Midget League games at home over the weekend and wrapped up the home portion of their schedule with a pair of victories.
The Jr. Greyhounds faced the Sudbury Wolves minor midget team, sweeping the weekend set, beating the Wolves 14-0 on Saturday and 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.
In Saturday’s game Michael Chaffay and Devin Mauro had five points each to pace the Jr. Greyhounds.\
Chaffay had three goals and two assists while Mauro chipped in with a goal and four assists.
Calem Mangone scored three times as well for the Jr. Greyhounds.
Gavin Ritacco had a goal and three assists while Connor Toms and Dylan Szabo had a goal and two assists each.
Dylan Fortsyth, Ty Zachary, and Kolby Fellinger had a goal and an assist each.
Mateo Perri rounded out the Sault scoring.
Stephen Pszeniczny assisted on four goals.
Noah Metivier picked up the shutout.
In Sunday’s contest, Mangone and Fellinger had a goal and two assists each to pace the Jr. Greyhounds offensively.
Michael Beltrano added a goal and an assist while Mauro, Forsyth, and Mason Chitaroni also scored.
Atley Gringotron had the lone Sudbury goal.
The Jr. Greyhounds will wrap up regular season play on Wednesday night on the road against the Kapuskasing Flyers.
The team will then remain in Kapuskasing to play in the GNML’s tournament-style playoff, which opens on Thursday and runs through the weekend.
The top two teams following action on Saturday will move on to Sunday’s championship game.
